ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The International Cine Portal Film Festival of Canavieiras was born as a meeting point between cinema, territory and transformation. Held in public spaces with free admission, the festival occupies the city with screenings, debates and a collective experience that brings audiences — especially young people from public schools — closer to contemporary cinema.
Since its inaugural edition, the festival has established itself as far more than a cultural event: it is a movement of occupation, decentralisation and education. With a world-class jury — including former Berlinale executive director Mariette Rissenbeek and Golden Globe voter Yasmine Evaristo — and the public support of Wagner Moura, Cine Portal put Canavieiras on the map of international cinema.
The only competitive category is dedicated exclusively to young local filmmakers up to 29 years old — because we believe the voices that need to be heard are born right here.
Cine Portal connects culture, the creative economy and tourism, attracting residents, visitors and audiovisual professionals, generating visibility, movement and real impact for the city. With each edition, the festival consolidates Canavieiras as a fertile ground for cinema.
Because here, Canavieiras is Cinema.
